1. La Esquina Corner Deli
2. Los Tacos No. 1
3. La Zarazgo Deli
As you’ve heard me say before, and you will probably hear me say again, the taco scene in New York is fairly disappointing. I decided to sit down with another fellow foodie, Esther Lee, who runs a taco blog, TacoTalk. She’s from SoCal, so if anyone has figured out where to eat some Mexican food in this city, she will be one of them.
Esther suggested three places that make a taco worth the money, and I’m planning on trying them all.
La Esquina Corner Deli
La Esquina. One part 24/7 taco shop. One part speakeasy bar through a door in the back.
Funny thing about this picture: they are currently filming a TV show. None of these people are actually here for the tacos. I naturally waltzed my way onto the set, taking pictures, until I got kicked out.
Los Tacos No. 1
Three friends from Tijuana, Mexico, and California started this little taco bar in the heart of Chelsea Market. If you can wait in a line (duh, it doesn’t take much), and if you can spend a few bucks (yes, that is the point of this blog), than you can indulge in a street-style taco that will only bring happiness to your life.
La Zarazgo Mexican Deli & Grocery
Family-run taco shop with the friendliest people around. Tiny little place in East Village with tacos that will impress. Can’t wait to try this spot!
Put a fork in it.
