Williamsburg is basically an extended neighborhood of Manhattan these days, but it’s still Brooklyn, right? That’s what they say.
This is my first post on a place in Brooklyn, and Pies ‘n’ Thighs just feels right. I’m from the South, and I feel like this place just really understands that eating can just make you feel great about your day, your life, yourself. Maybe not when you leave, but when you’re sitting there eating, for sure.
If you’re into hip hop, sit in the front room. If you’re into swing-dancing tunes, head to the back. Either way, you’ll find some sort of connection with this place. It’s cute. It’s lovable. It draws a fun crowd.
But let’s talk about why we’re really here, for this chicken biscuit. The ultimate biscuit. The ultimate chicken. It’s quite lovely.
The Chicken Biscuit ($7.50)
Imagine a fancy version of the spicy chicken biscuit from Chick-Fil-A. I say this as an incredible compliment. Chick-Fil-A has been described as my inner spirit animal, if it were to be an animal. This biscuit is topped with hot sauce and honey. This hot sauce is so good, you could actually drink it, or maybe I just really like hot sauce to an abnormal, unhealthy degree.
Grilled Cheese ($10)
In the spirit of the South, and my childhood, a solid grilled cheese is important. This is a solid grilled cheese. My hesitations are that I don’t usually order something I feel I could make at home. The fries are what sets this apart. I cannot make tasty fries. However, I did feel that this dish was overpriced.
Why have I not yet tried the pies? Because I’m on a budget of course. To be continued…
Here is a blurry picture of the exterior, right before I almost got hit by a car.
Put a fork in it.
