There is no sign. There is no storefront. There is no door.
But there is a neon burger sign with an arrow pointing you towards an unforgettable patty. The Burger Joint is truly a hole in the wall. There is debate whether or not this was the spot Marshall could never find in How I Met Your Mother. A curtain wraps around the outside of the restaurant, hiding its existence in the midst of the high class Parker Miridian Hotel. If you have not heard of it, you would never even notice it was there. Thankfully for you, now you have heard about it. You sure don’t want to miss out on this gem.
The menu is written on a few pieces of cardboard and hung up by wires from the ceiling. Know your order before you make it through the line or you might be sent to the back. Also, be stealthy if you risk taking photos–they are not afraid to yell and humiliate you in front of the crowd.
A budget of $10 will only get you a cheeseburger, but that is all you need to order here. Get back to the basics. It’s a classic American staple, but it is made to perfection, the ultimate combination and balance of flavor. Something about the taste will keep you drooling in your sleep for weeks (Is this a good thing?).
The Burger Joint is about the experience. Come ready to stand in line for a little while, listen to some oldies, and sit by random strangers as you take down a medium-rare hunk of goodness. We’re talking about the hamburger, thank you very much.
Put a fork in it.
